Melanie Simpson is a current literature professor at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia. During her time as a high school English teacher, she was trained in A.V.I.D. She holds undergraduate degrees in English and writing, and a Master's degree in teaching English.

Additionally, Melanie has been a devoted distance runner for over ten years and has completed several sub-four hour marathons.
